Please contact me to discuss working together on any of the below – I’m more than happy to have an initial discussion to decide whether I’m right for your project. When you reach out, please let me know what you’re looking for, an outline of the project, and a projected timeline. Rates will be determined on a project-by-project basis, dependent on workload and timescale.

I’m currently open to discussions about projects in any of these areas – I have availability for one more book-length (up to 100,000 words) ghostwriting project before the end of 2022.

Sensitivity & Authenticity Reading

I offer sensitivity/authenticity reads for the following topics:

  • Queerness (particularly queer women);
  • Disability (particularly Autism, ADHD, and chronic pain/illness);
  • Mental illness (particularly OCD, anxiety, and depression).

Previous clients have described my work as “smart, thoughtful, and helpful,” and have appreciated my thoroughness and ability to balance linguistic comments with wider structural recommendations, to ensure that the finished product accurately reflects the author’s intentions.

As standard, I provide the following to all clients who submit a manuscript for a sensitivity read:

  1. Marked-up manuscript copy with comments explaining why certain moments are problematic, with suggestions for how to improve;
  2. Full report summarising my overall opinion of the manuscript’s treatment of the subject, expanding on my comments and offering wider structural suggestions (if necessary);
  3. Conference calls with writer/editor to discuss how to develop the work further.

I’m also happy to work with authors at an earlier stage, to offer support and expertise during the ideation and development process.

I have previously worked with publishing industry clients on book manuscripts before publication, including working directly with authors, and coming in later on a project at the request of the editor. I’ve worked on YA and adult fiction, nonfiction, and memoir projects, for small presses and major houses. I’m also open to working with clients in other industries (e.g. journalists, game writers), so do get in touch!

Editing & Proofreading

I’m an experienced editor and proofreader, having worked with clients across the following industries: academic, journalism, business, and publishing. I pride myself on my attention to detail and my ability to ask thoughtful questions to draw out the best version of a project.

I’ve tended to work directly with authors, but I’m also available to discuss projects with agents/editors. I’ve worked on everything from scientific papers for biologists and chemists, to MG, YA, and adult fiction and creative nonfiction/memoir.

Ghostwriting & Assisting

I’ve worked as a ghostwriter or assistant writer on several projects across different spheres, including scripts for short films and theatre, as well as longer book-length projects. You can read more about my interests here, but if you don’t see a topic on that page, please don’t worry – I have a very diverse range of interests and knowledge and I’d love to talk more about your project if you think my writing style and experience might be the right fit. I love to learn about new subjects and throw myself into a challenging project, and I’m very happy to have a series of introductory meetings so we can get to know each other and see how working together might go.

My approach to these kinds of projects is bespoke, as I’m very aware that there are many different reasons for hiring a ghostwriter or assistant writer, but in broad strokes, I’m an enthusiastic researcher with a commitment to giving your story the depth and richness it deserves. I pride myself on being attentive to structure and form, and on finding the right shape for your story, and I’m very happy to work through multiple drafts. Whether you’re looking for someone you can work closely with to refine and polish the story you want to tell, or you need to take a more hands-off approach, I’d love to hear from you!
